Modify Orion Database

Has any been able to modify the Orion database successfully?
I'm trying to modify the Vendor compenent within the database. I modifiy it correctly and is shown within the Perfmon web correctly, but a short time later the field changes to it's original vaule? Any way of making this permanent?

The Nework Performance Monitor service must be stopped when you make manual changes to the DB. Otherwise it will overwrite your changes.
Restart the service when you are done and the changes will stick.

I've tried this but the data seems to change after the services are restarted.
The "Node" table \ “Vendor” Column is what I am modifying (So it shows appropriately within the Web Interface). Are these fields dynamic were such changes are not possible?
