Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
My Nipple hurts when I use SolarWinds
AlexSutton
I couldn't get anyone to read or respond to my first post so I changed the subject.
Can I use SolarWinds to report on what processes in the task manager ar using what percentage of CPU and MMEM. I also need a history report for each process running.
Is this possible? If so what do I need to get SolarWinds to do this?

No. It does not have the MIBs required to poll the taskmanager.

Alex:
The Engineer's Edition has a tool called Advanced CPU Load that does exactly what you are asking. Unfortunately it is not included with the Orion suite. I am not sure Solarwinds will include all those tools into Orion but if you really need that you have an option.

Alex,
Yes. Orion can monitor processes and their respective CPU and memory usage.
Contact SolarWinds Support and ask for a pre-release of the Orion Application Monitor extension for Orion. This polling engine will monitor Processes, CPU Load and Memory used and keep historical statistics of each. It can also log Events when monitored processes start/stop running.
Here's a few steps to get it up and running quickly.
Download the Application Monitor package and install it.
Re-run the Configuration Wizard.
Manually start the "SolarWinds Application Monitor" service from the Service Manager or use the "Stop NetPerfMon" utility.
Run the Application Monitor program and select which applications on which servers you would like to monitor.
Then from the Orion web site, add Application Monitoring resources to your Node, Summary and Top 10 views (or whatever views your like). A new set of Application Monitoring resources and charts were installed when you ran the Configuration Wizard.
