Speedfan can get temp/fan speed of PC's, how can I get Orion to import this info?

Hi,

I'm exploring WMI and SNMP to obtain fan/temp of some of our PC's.  I am using a local tool called speed fan

It is amazing, but only runs locally and I was wondering how it get's its information.  I have run WMI explorer and can't locate the temps and tried using SNMP.  THen I thought if speedfan was running locally can snmp/wmi grab this info from speedfan itself?

They are mainly accessed using the 2-wire SMBus (System Management Bus).

SpeedFan can access status info from EIDE, SATA and even SCSI drives, showing, in a consistent way, internal data that can be used to diagnose current and future hard disk failures. This is known as S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology).

 

I quickly searched but did not find a way to export data from this freeware. You should ask the developers (there's no forum it looks like) in order to know if it could be possible to export data from this tool e.g. to some WMI Class and have the ability to run it as a service.

On linux hosts, the lm_sensor module can make available such information through SNMP thanks to Net-SNMP.

On windows, you could try to upgrade the drivers to check in the hope of making the sensors values available through WMI.
