I have about 100 routers/switches that I need to have rediscovered so I can pull in the new hardware and interfaces. What is the easiest way to do this for already discovered nodes?
If you are swapping in a new hardware/interfaces, you will need to add the new interface for monitoring using Web Manage Nodes. Since it has a different hardware address, I belive Orion NPM will view it as a completely new and will ignore it until it is added for monitoring. From what I understand the default discovery interval under admin in Orion Polling Configuration:
The Default Rediscovery Interval is really most applicable in the case of a router with a large number of interfaces that are all monitored by NPM and occasionally re-indexed by the router itself (which in the old days of router monitoring would screw up your list of interfaces). In this event, NPM corrects the 'known' interface index on the Default Rediscovery Interval.
Other than the normal way of going under manage nodes and listing resouces and checking what you want monitored I don't know of some mass easy way to automatically add all the new interfaces. If someone else know as way to do this I would really like to be made aware of it also.
Just run the Network Discovery tool. If you have multiple Pollers, make sure you assign the discovery to the same poller the device is assigned to. Discovery will automatically add new interfaces to existing devices.
