Errors and Discards

Hello We are running the Orian product and have it monitoring a number of our Cisco 2600 routers.

On one of the routers we are getting a lot of "Transmit Discards" and on another one we are getting lots of "Receive Errors"

Does anyone know if this means we have a problem with the router? or what is it actually indicating.

Most common causes of this type of thing I've seen is duplex mismatch or bad cables. Check that your port speeds match on both sides - eg 10/half or 100/full (assuming this is ethernet) - don't use Auto as this can be problematic on some devices - much better to fix the speed when it comes to router and switch connections.

Failing that try replacing the cables

I was just getting a ton of receive and crc errors on one of my routers the other day.

Turned out to be a bad smartjack.
