Orion NPM upgrade from 8.0 to 9.1 sp1 fails

Question

When running the Orion-9-1-Update.exe to upgrade from Orion NPM 8.0 to 9.1 sp1 I get the following error:

ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.
ERROR: Can't find the Orion installation.

Any ideas?

The file Orion-9-1-Update.exe is the service pack for Orion 9.1. Run the other file, SolarWinds-Orion-9.1-SLX.exe. This will upgrade your installation from v8 to v9.1. It will automatically run the Orion-9-1-Update.exe file during the upgrade so the service pack will be installed also
