SolarWinds.Information.Service - Can it be disabled if not using the local webserver?

We've got an additional webserver in place for users to access SolarWinds, so can we disable SolarWinds.Information.Service on any pollers not being used as a webserver?

The Information Service is a Orion core service, and I would not reccommend stopping it.

So what does it do then?

The Solarwinds Information Service is responsible for retrieving data for the Orion Website as well as connection between pollers if you you have an Additional WebServer or additional Pollers. If this Service Stops you will see a SOAP Error on the Website.
