QoE.. Am I missing something

I am testing NPM in lab and start gather info to see how QoE works. I pick MSSQL as an example and got the following result, assuming first node (highlighted black) is my NPM server running as SQL client, and solarwinds 2 is SQL server. They both have SPAS agents running. Why would the AVG application response time be such a big different? Shouldn't response time on SQL server be faster than on client? Just curious.

from my POV, I'm curious too. AVG value on server should be smaller. BUT ...

Are you sure that your SQL server is not talking with anyone else?

Are there any peaks in charts or are these values stable on both sides?

Which version of QoE and MSSQL are you using? (There is known issue with MSSQL fixed in QoE 2.0)

Did you changed times or timezones recently on any of the servers? And do both servers have set correct time settings?

Aren't there any any errors in ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\DPI or ProgramData\Solarwinds\InformationService\v3.0 logs?

So, how you can check?

At first, try to reproduce on as few data as you can, zoom charts to see what happened last few minutes. (Please keep in mind that sensors can be desynced, 5 minutes polling interval is meant from their start, not when xx:x0 or xx:x5 is on the clock.)

You can simply use wireshark on both sides and try to calculate ART by yourself. ART is time between non-empty last client packet and ACK of non-empty server packet. This should lead you to answer.

I strongly recommend to try to reproduce with non-MS protocol.

If you will be still experiencing weird behaviour, feel free to open support ticket. Link this thread so they can escalate it directly to devs. Please attach pcaps from both servers from same time.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately the trial license expired and I'm not able to gather more info from QoE unless I rebuild the whole thing. I'm able to answer some of your question base on my understanding.

1. QOE come with installation on NPM 11.5.2. MSSQL is Microsoft SQL 2012 sp2 express

2. both server sync with external NTP server pools.ntp.org.

3. We use default Polling interval on all servers.

I'll take your advice by sniffing the data with wireshark after I rebuild everything.
