Some questions about NPM (current users,login-logout durations)

Hi,

 

I'm supposed to set a system that we can have current user information when needed.

We have NPM 10 as our production polling engine.

 

We like to set some traps or poll information via SNMP or Syslog.

I need information about how i can poll login-logout times of users and also information of getting current logged users.

 

Devices we polled are Cisco Switches such as 6500 series, RedHat Enterprise servers, Windows Server 2003 series.

 

I found a way to take this kind of information in linux by syslog. (It was pretty easy)

So i need to set  Cisco and Windows now.

 

Please advise, it's urgent.

I've addressed some of your questions below:

Look at Chapter 24 of the Orion NPM Administrator Guide. It explains traps in detail.

I need information about how i can poll login-logout times of users and also information of getting current logged users.

You'll need the OIDs of all the items you want to poll. Then you can use the Universal Device Poller to poll them. Chapter 12 of the Orion NPM Administrator Guide will give you instructions on how.
