SolarWinds recently discovered an important product issue with Orion NPM v9.5. We have released a hot fix to resolve this issue. This fix will be included in Orion NPM Service Pack 2, but we would like to provide this fix as soon as possible to existing customers as it potentially impacts alerting effectiveness.
Who it affects:
Customers running Orion NPM 9.5 and Orion NPM 9.5 SP1
What is the problem:
In the event of a disconnection from the Orion database, the advanced alert engine may stop and then fail to restart when the database connection is restored.
How to fix:
To apply:
- Save a backup copy of the current alerting engine executable, AlertingEngine.exe, on your Orion server.
Note: The default location of this file is C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\. - Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right-click SolarWinds Alerting Engine, and then click Stop.
Note: Do not close the Services window. - Open the compressed hot fix file.
- Extract AlertingEngine.exe from the hot fix folder to the \SolarWinds\Orion folder on your Orion server to replace the older version of AlertingEngine.exe.
Note: C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\ is the default location. - In the Services window, right-click SolarWinds Alerting Engine, and then click Restart.
