Did the advanced alert manager move to web page only in the newer version of NPM and SAM? When I tried to open it on the server it opened the web page.
I'm curios if you have found an answer for this. I created a custom UnDP and do not see it in the regular alert manager. When I try to open Advanced Alert Manager on the server it opens the web page as well.
Hello guys,
Starting with Orion 2015.1.x platform, alerts are now web based.
Alerts created using the desktop-based alerting engine are automatically migrated to the web-based alerting engine
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor Release Notes
Is there a way I can create an alert for UnDP's that I created via the web-based alerting engine?
Yes, jacob.decker. On my end I used the Web alert manager to create a UnDP alert. See sample below:
I read something that advised you can still use the older application for managing alerts, I'm trying to find this presently... can someone point me in the relevant direction please?
Only just upgraded today & while the web-based alert manager is good, I'd still like to be able to use the familiar tool while we adjust.
Point of note around this, all alerts (it appears) bar one migrated without issue. I had one which was set to trigger on %99 memory used, but somehow this translated across to trigger at 99 bytes...
I am fairly sure that the original Alert Manager can still be found as an installed application on your Core Server.
Hi smiffy85
You beat me to it, I was just posting that it is here - "C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\AlertManager.exe" thanks to aLTeReGo & this thread https://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/276197#276197
However, seeing as all existing alerts were migrated (& not copied across) to the webconsole I'm debating the need to use this & it begs another question as to whether any new alerts created here will be migrated to the web console (or is there a way to manually trigger this?)
Once the Orion platform has been updated to 2015.1.x, all alerts for the module that uses this will automatically be moved to web. (ie. if you're NTA is still on 3.11 you will still see your alerts on the AAM)
Main reason is because of the change in schema and alerting tables..
From what I heard there is a way to disable the web alerting and use the old alerting but unfortunately, do not have the exact procedure on how to do it.. sorry guys.. guess you need to submit a ticket if you really want to use the AAM..
To be honest, I am not sure why you would want to go back to use the application, the web alert manager is far better and much easier to navigate and understand.
