Is there a way to create an alert with an alert action that writes a message to the event log but does not write an alert to the alert view in SolarWinds?
From what I understand - the answer would be NO
Even though you don't have any alert action's , if trigger condition is true/met the alert would be fired and you would see that on Alerts.
You will have to go with some kind of a workaround here (what type of alert are you creating ?) - We can reset the alert immediately in certain cases based on the trigger condition , but then let me know what alert are you talking about.
I have a trigger action that sends the message to the windows event log. The reset condition is configured to reset automatically after 1 minute. I thought resetting the alert would clear it from the All Active Alerts view, but it doesn't
I'm doing many types of alerts. One example is an NCM Audit for config upload by user failed. All I want to do is send that message to the Windows Event Log. It seems extremely silly that I can't generate a trigger action without having to write an active alert.
