How to get Orion v9.1 to recognize virtual machines?

Question

I have Orion installed on a VMWare machine and monitoring three other virtual servers. However, Orion does not see any VMWare machines in my network.

What do I have to do to get Orion to see these machines for what they are? I see that the virtual machines table in my database has no nodes listed.

What have I missed?

Unfortunately, ESXi does not support SNMP like the regular ESX.  We have ESXi support logged as a feature in our tracking system, but we're not sure what release that will be happening in.

Oh, and I determined that we are actually using VMWare ESX Server 3i. Should that work?
