Current Percent Utilization of Each Interface = 0%

Question

Hi,

Under the nodes details, the default resource "Current Percent Utilization of Each Interface" states 0% on all LAN interface and sub-interfaces although the WAN interface (GigEthernet0/0) is showing activities.

Any ideas as to how I can get it to output the correct utilization?

True... i had the same occurence and when matched the actual and allocated bandwidth, it was very less and hence 0%...

In case someone else googles this problem and is directed here.... The Interface Bandwidth is 1.0 Gbps if you divide your current traffic (and it is less than 10 Mbps) by 1 Gbps  (1,000,000,000) it will be essentially 0% utilization.

I am sure you must be aware about how a data collection happens in Orion and how the charts are displayed.

Just a recap,Orion would do a snmp get and collect the data from the Source device to feed them into our database.And then with calculations done at the back end,they get filled in the charts appropriately.

Looking at the screen shot in the question,I would say this is chart is filled according to the data collected via snmp by the polling engine.

Going a step further,you could install the following toolset(evaluation version) from Solarwinds website.

After installing,navigate to External tools-->Classic tools-->SNMP Tools-->MIB walk.This should help you to do a snmpwalk to the device in question.This data is going into the database and the charts are calculated and displayed accordingly.

In case if you see a difference in the snmpwalk and the values in the database,please open a support ticket.if there is no difference then you should probably work with the device in question.
