We recently set up Windows Integrated Security/Passthrough Authentication on our Orion Website as outlined in the Admin guide. It was very simple and this is a wonderful way to go as this eliminates the need to maintain separate login accounts for each user.
We did suffer a major consequence by going this route that made us almost revert back to using Orion Logins. Our scheduled reports broke, as they could not deal with passthrough authentication. We tried about every combination of domain and Orion user imaginable, but non worked. We opened up a trouble ticket late yesterday, but we were able to figure out a work around with a good nights sleep. Here it is in summary.
1. Create a new web site in IIS manager called reports or whatever you want. Attach it to the loopback address 127.0.0.1, and point it to the Solarwinds web folder, e.g. C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds. Be sure scripts are allowed and anonymous login is configured.
2. Create a local user in Orion for the jobs to login as. Be sure it has access to the reports folder.
3. Modify your reports to use this user and the 127.0.0.1 web site, e.g. 127.0.0.1/.../some_report
Maybe if I move to Austin, I can get a job with Solarwinds. LOL!!
