I am setting up some syslog receiving and alerting for one of our teams, and was asked a question that I was not sure of the answer. I am using the Orion syslog receiver that comes with NPM. We currently are on version 9.1. Plans to upgrade to 9.5 are in the works. The question that came up is "Does your receiver support KRDP for delivery on port 1468? My first answer was yes. Then I decided I should probably verify that with people who know more than I do. The first thing that will probably come up is why I don’t use the KIWI syslog server we obviously have for the alerts, instead of forwarding those syslog messages to another syslog server? The answer is complicated and involves the phases of the moon. It also requires you to be left handed, blind, and missing two toes and an eyebrow. Needless to say I have no really good answer. I still need to know if the Orion syslog receiver supports KRDP for delivery on port 1468. Does anyone know the answer?
