Has NTM been out long enough for a list of best practices?
Should I install it on a dedicated server? Would it work well if it was installed on the same server we run NCM?

The reason for having best practices, is to give the user a reference point, where one could use the above points to their advantage.
NTM does not require a dedicated server to perform its job. It will work fine on the same server where NCM is installed, while keeping in mind the minimum system requirements.
