New Alert Engine

I'm thinking of installing the new alert engine but I'm wondering if I should install it onto a test system first.

What is the down side to installing the beta on a production system? Is it un-installable? Are any of the changes irreversible?

I'm currently running the new alert engine in a test environment as well - definitely the way to go. You can uninstall it but why create headaches for yourself.
