The
Orion website is currently unable to display this page. Orion polling
and alerting services often continue running, though this page cannot be
displayed. Please take the following steps to attempt to alleviate the
issue:

Ensure
the Orion services are still running.

Check
that your SQL Server is still running and accessible.

Please
notify SolarWinds of this error. We will address and help you fix the
issue.

Your
specfic error is:

Object reference
not set to an instance of an object.

I have seen this error once and it had nothing to do with the 3 items listed. It had everything to do with my local IE instance being in a crappy state. I opened a new IE session while the hung one was still running and was able to browse all Orion pages. Strange thing about it was, in the hung instance, i could browse anything on the internet/intranet but could not browse any orion pages, even after the new session was working...

Thanks for the reply...I am running IE 7...should I go to IE8 or stay at IE7? Do you recall a fix for this? Again...thanks for your reply.

We are running IE 7 and i have only seen this once and it was from an IE session that i left running over the weekend on my my locked workstation. I suspect SolarWinds timed my session out because i could browse any other site, internal and external in that session. In fact i left that session running for a few more days and could not browse an orion page in it. But, by opening another IE instance, I could browse all orion pages.

I never really looked for a fix as i only experienced it once and a new instance of IE resolved it.

That error is a bit obscure to me beacuse in my case, no of those 3 items were an issue.

Questions that come to mind...

Is this error persistent, and for all orion users or just you? How often is it happening? Have you checked your Web Console Settings for the Session Timeout value? Have you checked the Disable Session Timeout value for your account, or affected accounts?
