Orion Upgrade error message

Hello,

I have an installation of Orion Network Performance Monitor Version 8.5.1. I would like to upgrade it to verion 9.1. I have download the upgrade package by logging to SolarWinds web site with customer credentials and select the suitable upgrade install file. I followed the upgrade procedure posted in this forum and it prompts me that the following component must be upgrade it in order to proceed :

Net Flow Analyser 2.2 ((Not exist in my installation)

Application Perfom. Monitor 1.0 (This is exist in my installation)

Wireless Network Monitor 8.5 ((Not exist in my installation)

VoIP  Monitor 2.0 SP3 (Not exist in my installation)

And Appliacation Monitor Not supported (This is exist in my installation)

Please advice how I will over come this message in order to upgrade it successfully.

NetPerfmon Service was not Installed.

Simply Re-running Config Wizard, Choose Services
Choose Orion NPM NetPerfmon Service to Repair & all works fine Afterwards.

Hi,

Finally I manage to uninstall the Application monitor, and proceed the installation of the 9.1. At the end of the installation procedure it prompt me that the NPM  service could not be started. I tried to repair the problem with the Configuration Wizard with no luck, the error messages are:

* Could not start the NPM service 
* Error stopping service "NetPerfMonService", Service did not stop in a timely manner.
* Can not change dependencies of "NetPerfMonSerivde"
* Error starting service "NetPerfMonService". Service dod not start in a timely manner.

When trying to open the System manager it prompt me that Could not connect to polling engine.

Note that the SolarWinds Application Monitor service from windows services MMC cannot be started after the manual installation.

Any ideas?

I think you have two problems here:

APM (Application Performance Monitor) needs to be upgraded to v2 sp2 and the legacy Application Monitor needs to be uninstalled (if not already).

Oops, I just checked the 9.1 release notes, and it appears that APM 1.0 is actually supported with Orion 9.1. Perhaps its just the Application Monitor uninstall (although I would suggest upgrading APM anyway while you are doing the upgrades..)
