Newby Question about SNMP..

Sorry for the newby question but here we go. Is it possible to monitor services or processes running on a W2K3 machine using SNMP, if so how? And of course having Orion alert us when one is down. Feel free to point me to a document somewhere on the web versus having to type out some really long explantion of SNMP. I understand the concept but not the details.

Hi bmckinley,
Yes. You can monitor services running on a Windows box through SNMP. More specifically you monitor the running applications that are exposed by the host resources mib. If you are interested in the details I can send you the specific OID.
In order to get this functionality from Orion you have to have the Application Monitor installed. Check out this post:
