SNMP running but I can not add node
teano
Hi,
I downloaded Orion NPM from SolarWinds website. I installed and ran evaluation version. And I tried to add node, I wrote the IP address of the router, and the community string which I defined in the router configuration before. But I got an error message telling that it can not communicate with the device using SNMP.
I'm using Windows 2000 Server. And when I controlled the services on my system, I saw that SNMP service is running.
And also it's so interesting that altough NPM proggramme can not add device by using SNMP, it can find my router when I use the Network Discovery Tool.
I couldn't understand what the problem is.It's because of the Orion Evaluation version? Has anyone got any idea about this matter?
Can anyone send me a reply as soon as possible? Thx so much...

Just as a tip. SNMP strings are case sensitive. Also make sure you are not running any access list which would prevent the polling engine from gaining access to the device.

Hi
You need to make sure the config of your snmp service has the correct community string attached and that the security is set to allow the request from the management server.
