Unable to report on Basic Alerts

Question

I am unable to generate a report that lists my basic alerts and the node names for which they trigger on.  I can see the alerts table and it shows a array of network nodes, but it is time consuming to import to Access, copy and paste as a Transpose in Excel and run querys that compare all node numbers available to the specific nodes being triggered on in the alert - while also having to not allow duplicates in the the query.

Please help me.  I need to generate a friendly report and would prefer to use the Orion Report Writer.

I've seen posts that are similar to this inquiry, but they are old and referencing older version.  I have 8.1 with all the latest patches.

I already tried that and I don't like what I see because it doesn't show me what I am looking for.

The following shows the SQL that the report uses when generating a report as you recommended:

SELECT
Nodes.Caption AS NodeName, Nodes.Status AS Status, Nodes.ResponseTime AS Response_Time, ActiveAlerts.EventMessage AS EventMessage
 FROM
Nodes INNER JOIN ActiveAlerts ON (Nodes.NodeID = ActiveAlerts.NodeID)

This only pulls information from Active Alerts table.  I am asking to pull information from the Alerts table; however, the alerts table has a column in it that list the Nodes for which it alerts on, and these are only node numbers.  I need the node names instead of the node number so that the report is eaiser to read.

Just open the orion report writer.  Press New at the top left.  Under "New Report", just specify Active Alerts.  Name the report as you like, then hit execute SQL query.  Like what you see?  press file, export.  You can then export to Excel.
