Orion 8.1 - Loss of Interfaces in WebGUI and DB

We're running Solarwinds Orion 8.1 on Windows 2003 server. We manage around 20 routers via this tool. At random we are losing interfaces from Orion. The router will still be polled for CPU and Memory and Interface bandwidth usage. However at random interfaces are disappearing from the management tool, they are still viewable in the WebGUI but no data is collected for the interface anymore. Netflow collection for such an interface is still working.

The only way to make Orion monitor the interface again, is deleting the node and adding it again. We then loose all collected data.

Has anyone seen this behaviour, is this a known bug?

I believe Hotfix 6 fixes problems with gaps in data for Orion 8.1.

I am having the same issue. I installed the demo of 8.1 and added 10 routers and choose to monitor all active interfaces. When I left last night all interfaces had data.

When I checked this morning, the data for some of the interfaces were not being graphed anymore. I checked the console app and some of the interfaces were unchecked (mostly serial interfaces and gig ethernet). I rechecked them, but now I have duplicate interfaces listed on the WebGUI.

I went ahead and rebooted the server for good measure and now the same interfaces have magically unchecked themselves again.

I have all of the hotfixes applied.

Any idea what is going on?

PS. I am not able to enter some IP addresses either. For example 10.10.0.100 gets translated to 10.10.0.10 when I try to add this new node.

There is a small issue with adding Nodes in 8.1. If the node’s IP address ends in an octet of .100 or .200, then Orion will drop the last 0 of the IP before trying to communicate with the device. This is something dev is working to fix. There is also a workaround for this issue.Try to add the device through it’s hostname, then, once added, go into the devices Node Details and change the IP Address to read correctly.

As for the other issues I'll need to look into it further and get back with you-

I had the same issue entering ip address. I emailed support last week and they stated this was fixed in HotFix3. I installed all HotFixes and problem is gone.

Mark, have you discovered anything regarding the interfaces disappearing? I'm experiencing the same exact problem that gumbaja and advertr have described.
