How much DB space will I need?

I could not find a definitive answer on how to calculate DB space requirements.

I currently have 918 elements and am using the default DB retention times I want to increase to the maximum retention time; how large will my DB need to be? Is there a known formula such as with the poller tuning?

Same question for NetFlow stats. How much would be needed if I increase the uncompressed stats to 24 hours and the compresssed to 30 days or beyond? I am currently viewing stats for 121 interfaces.

I would strongly recommend against expanding uncompressed to 24 hours. It will increase your data about 20x the current size. And you won't get much for it. Our "compression" is really just combining identical packets that differ only in time of arrival. So you're increasing your storage requirement, but what do you gain? What problem are you trying to solve by saving more uncompressed data.

In contrast, keeping more compressed data won't have much impact. Look at what you have after a week and multiply times the number of weeks you'll save data for. It's hard to be more accurate because interfaces aren't created equally. One interface with a lot of traffic could hit the database more than 10 low-use interfaces.

As for NPM, for your case, 3-4GB is all you'll need over the course of a year. NetFlow data will be a lot more than that.

WHAT

So, if I keep 180 days worth of NPM detailed stats for 918 elements it should only equate to 3-4 gigs worth of DB space? My DB is currently at about 6.7 gigs as set up per my first post so that would make sense. Once NF was added then the DB grew to 5-7 gigs from about 1.6 gigs.
