NPM 12 and historical metrics

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Solarwinds so please forgive me if this incorrectly categorized or "in the wrong place"...

Our internal team has recently been asked to pull historical metrics on pretty much all systems, applications. etc.  I'm investigating better ways to pull this data from our network devices and with under 150 devices, primarily Cisco, this product seems very reasonable.  It's just whether or not it does what we need.  Is there a list of reports NPM 12 can produce for me to reference? Does anyone else have experience producing reports from NPM to upper management - what are some specific outputs being requested/delivered?  Are they satisfied or looking for more?

From my brief research of NPM 12, we should be able to pull the following basic metrics on devices across the network:

*uptime of device

*uptime of links or interfaces?

*bandwidth utilization reports?

*health of device

How about service related metrics for network devices?

*Cisco ASA SSL VPN availability?

*Cisco ASA SSL and IPsec sessions, usage?

Solarwinds has A LOT of built-in resources and reports.  You can definitely get your first three items without issue.  I am not sure what is meant by "health of device" but it can poll hardware health and stuff and report on those.

Regarding the Cisco ASA availability, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I would encourage you to check here for some features that are lacking that people are wanting:

If something is not listed there, chances are it already has it.  You should be able to get whatever you want with sessions and usage though, however depending on exact data you are looking for and which MIB contains it you may need to utilize a custom poller.
