Avoiding ICMP on some devices

Is there a way to monitor a device with SNMP, but not to poll for latency using ICMP? I have some devices that do not respond to ICMP, but need to have applications and CPU monitored. Not responding to ICMP causes Orion to show the node as down with 100% loss.
