Alert Email with Variable as email address

I was hoping to create a single alert email that would populate the TO: address from a custom property.

Solarwinds, can we get this on the radar as a feature to possibly add?

PS, I have noticed a problem when I was creating a VB script to send an email with a variable as the TO address. When you put the path of the VB Script to execute, if the path has a space or special characters in it (like if it was in the program files directory with the rest of the solarwinds stuff) it doesent work!

Hey there - this works just fine in advanced alerts. If you have a custom property for your nodes called ContactEmail, just use that in place of the To field like ${Node.CustomEmail}.

Yes..it works well....was looking into the same issue and saw your post. Makes it simple to have a single alert that serves multiple groups. Had copies of the same alert before to allow sending an email to the correct group.

I have added ${Nodes.Custom_Email} to the To: field in my email alert. When I test it I get the error:

Error sending email for alert TEST ALERT OF YYC-FWMGMT. - The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.

In the custom field I have a single email address that I know works.

Any ideas?

It's not obvious what the issue is. Seems like it should work. Maybe you need to open a support ticket. If you do, please reference this thread.
