New to Solarwinds and I'm trying to create maps that at a high level will show me problems within a branch but I can't seem to get the status from the child to roll all the way up the maps e.g.
Here I have a switch on our floor 9 with trunk that is off line, the child node is reporting correctly (if I have this right) as the small red dot is showing.

PMR Office
In this example because I have a trunk down I would like node dots for Floor 9 and for PMR Office to be red to represent this as right now they indicate that nothing is wrong with PMR. I have tried to set up a alert on all switches that if a child of the node has a status of down to be critical hoping that would change the status of the node but even though the alert has triggered the status of the node stays green. I do have included child status turned on.
Any idea how to roll up alerts
