Importing a custom MIB

Hi and happy new year to you all..

Simple question: Can I import a custom mib i.e. RFC1628A.MIB into V8. and if so how do I do this. I have been looking at the Custom Poller but cant seem to be able to import this MIB. Please Help!!!!

As far as I can see you can't, the only available MIBS are the ones that Solarwinds have made available through the Custom Poller.

The MIB doesn't have to be in the tree that ships with the Orion install; you can type in the specific OID you want to poll into the dialog.

And this is the v8 achiles heel.......... I am quite sure that everyone was under the impression that we would all be able to do this...

I have found that most of the devices that I was looking forward to polling in v8 are not supported and thus I can't do any custom polling with them... very frustating

You can do this. But you have to know the OID you want to poll. And that is no easy task! HP Openview can import custom MIB. Why not Solarwinds?

Thanks for all your replies. looks like a big let down in that we cannot import custom MIB's ourselves but we have to send them to the Solarwinds team so they can be added.
