how do you verify which database you are connected to?

From the Orion server, how are the ways you can verify which database/table you are connected to? Can you do this from System Manager and/or Database Maintenance Utility? I don't see anything in there that gives you the existing/active connection.

From the web console, in version 10.0, you can confirm that info as follows:

Log in to the web console using an account with administrative privileges.
Click Settings in the top right corner.
In the Details grouping, click Database Details.

Both your Database Server and the instance (Catalog) you are using are listed.

In older versions of Orion NPM, you can confirm that info as follows:

Log in to the web console using an account with administrative privileges.
Click Admin in the menu.
In the Details grouping, click Database Details.

Through the Orion Web Console page select Admin, then on the bottom right you should see DETAILS > Database Details. This is where you can find the server and database name that your Orion instance is using.

Thanks - I know you can get to it via the Web Console, but that's not working at the moment, so I want to determine where the server is pointing so I can back up the database, and am just curious. How do you do this, without access to the Web interface?

You can do this at the server by opening Database Manager, expanding SQL Servers.

Your server and db will be listed there.

That won't necessarily show you the server that the database is on. You can open a database connection on any SQL server. In my case, a connection was made to another SQL server, at which the database was not really on. So this is not a guarantee, which is why I'm asking. It's seems rather confusing that there isn't a way - from the server/console utilities to tell easily.

I tried that, but I don't see anything in my Help/About indicating a DB connection or server in there ???

That's strange. I have a ver 10 eval install and a ver 9 production install and both systems show this information in the "About" dialog box.

Strange indeed. Maybe it only shows up if you are running a local database.

This is a separate SQL database and shows that area as empty.

When I want to verify which database my Orion is using, I just start the Configuration Wizard, only select Database (checkbox). The next screen shows the SQL server. The next screen shows the database name.

Is there something I am missing why you don't just do that?
