What are the Issues using RAID 5 in Solarwinds?

Question

I've been reading recommendations and I saw that RAID 5 is not recommended.  What issues would happen if I used RAID 5 both common and rare which would include scalability?  I'm wondering if it would be tolerable to just get by using RAID 5 if resources are not available using RAID 10 or does RAID 5 just completely crash my system if I attempt it?  Thank you in advance.

I have seen a Client move from RAID 1+0 to RAID 5 by mistake when they were adding and moving storage resources around. We saw a 10-15 second delay on every web page we tried to get to after the change. Once they moved the storage back again it was maybe 1-2 seconds at the longest for the same pages.

It is how the data and application use SQL. It is specified in the Administration Guide not to use it for the SQL Database, but can be used for other parts of the installation like OS or Application Drives. Stating on page 9, you will find the minimum requirements for SQL disk configurations.
