New Alert manager won't trigger alert

Hello,
I just installed Alert manager 8.1.15. I have created alerts but none of them will trigger. I have one as simple as Systemname is equal to dtcfl1sw1. I know this is true in the database because I can look at it in system manager. I know the new alert engine sees the database because I can see current evetns with it and pick host names out of the dropdown box when configuring alerts. I have checked the Enable this Alert and I have rechecked my config's several times.
What am I missing on this? Any ideas would be great.

Insure your virus protection is allowing SMTP. Insure your SMTP Relay Server is allowing mail from you.
Not enough info to determine if mail ever worked before.

I don't think it is a e-mail issue because it is on the same box as our older alert manager and the orion system manager. Also, when I view active alerts in the new Alert manager nothing shows up in there. So I don't think the alert is even getting triggered, much less getting e-mailed out.

Check the SolarWinds Alerting Engine service to see if it is running and set to Automatic startup type.

To test the Alert Actions and ensure the SMTP Server settings are not the problem, add an Alert Action that writes a log to a file (use a .txt file on the desktop for the test). Move the Log File Action to the top of the Alert Action list to make it the first Action performed. On the General tab, check the Advanced Features check box and set the slider to check the Alert every 60 seconds.

Set the Trigger Condition to something like "NodeName is equal to AlertTest" and set the slider to alert immediately when the Trigger Condition exists. Enable the Alert and save the changes.

Using the Orion System Manager, rename a node to "AlertTest", and then wait at least 60 seconds to give the engine time to query the database for the Trigger Condition.

Check the log file to see if the event was added. Also check the Active Alerts view in the Alert Manager to see if it was added there.

If you see the Alert in the Log file, but did not receive an E-mail, look into the SMTP settings, and see if there were any error messages added to the Windows Event Log. If no Alert Actions were performed at all, give the Support Team a call at (918) 307-8100 or E-mail [url="mailto:"]Support@SolarWinds.Net.

May be a stupid suggestion, but make sure that you have "Triggered Alerts" set in the view. I had a similar issue and found out that the alerts were actually triggering, but weren't showing up in the view because they were filtered out.

It was the service not started. Thanks for the reply. It's working fine now.
