Comment Box in Node Details

Hi everyone,

first let me say Sorry for my bad English. I am from Germany and i will do my very best to describe my problem as good as i can

Is there any possibility to add a text box to the "Node Details" page, where we can describe individual problems or status reports for each node?

For example Node 1 needs a text box with content: "Managed reboot at xx.xx", Node 2 needs a text box with content: "Port xx is broken. DO NOT USE". So every Node needs to have different content in this text box.

I hope anyone could help me.

Hi Silence,

maybe there exists some better solution, but I have following idea:

1. Create some Custom property, let's say "TextBox"

2. You can assign this custom property values for the Nodes you need to comment.

3. Add to the NodeDetails page Custom Query resource (area Miscellaneous) and use following query:

Select TextBox from Orion.NodesCustomProperties where NodeID=${NodeId}

Than you will see inside the resource the value you set for the node.

If the query doesn't work, please specify the NPM version you use.

That's what i was looking for.

Is there any other way to edit the content in the front end? We are two admins but only one with server access.

You mean editing of the Custom property values?

At this time is available NPM 10.4, which has implemented web-based custom property editor. Or in Jan 2013 will be released NPM 10.4.1, which will contain some fixes and minor features. Until the upgrade you can edit the CP values via SQL management studio, which can be installed on more machines. The CPs are present in the table Nodes.
