IIS prompts for username and Password
ftsang
I have just upgraded from Orion 7.4 top 7.7. What I noticed afterwards is that when bringing up the Orion webpage, it prompts for a Windows username and password. After putting in the credentials, then the Orion login page loads up.
This has never happened to me before on any previous Orion upgrades. I am running Orion on windows 2k3 and have been since verison 7.1 I have IIS set to ENABLE ANONYMOUS ACCESS, like it should be. I have Solarwinds support stumped, as they had me try things like uninstalling and reinstalling IIS, rerunning the configuration wizard. None of this has worked. nothing in the event viewer shows any kind of error with IIS either.
Has this occurred for any of you out there? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had the same problem but then I realized the saved url I was using still included the /NetPerfMon/Login.asp . Sometimes the obvious is easy to overlook. I needed another pair of eyes to notice it.

If you have a DNS alias entry for the Windows server, this might cause the issue as well.
If I use the Windows server name in the URL, then pass-thru works fine.
If I use the DNS alias (Solarwinds.xyz.com) in the URL, then I get prompted to login.

I had a similar issue but it was only because we use a custom jpeg for the banner (i.e. overwriting the solarwinds logo in C:\Inetpub\Solarwinds...etc). Whenever the home page came up I had to enter the admin password for the Server. It was because when I copied the custom jpeg it hadn't inherited the correct rights, i.e. IISUSER_Solarwinds. Adding this IIS account solved the issue.
