Hi, When I schedule a report with the Report Scheduler. I add the Hyperlinks that I required.(Using the build in browser) But when the report email comes through. I only get: (The web login screen). Report Scheduler Email

Hi,

When I schedule a report with the Report Scheduler. I add the Hyperlinks that I required.(Using the build in browser)

But when the report email comes through. I only get: (The web login screen).

User ID	[ ]
Password	[ ]

I have entered the correct username/password in the Scheduler.

First off, the Report Scheduler is a huge pain in the a**. There, I said it. Much more work needs to be put into this application to make it functional as well as *supported*.

Second, do you use NT authentication for login to your Orion web server or do you use the built-in authentication? One thing I've noticed with Report Schedule (and *any* of the Solarwinds tools that require scheduling), is that there are a lot of "dependencies" with the Windows task scheduler that all must line up perfectly in order to get working, not excluding solar alignment of all planets and stars in our galaxy. This is really no fault of SW, but rather an issue with the horrible Windows Task Scheduler. I use NT authentication on my server and have an account specifically for use with report generation. That account is used both to log into the server via the web console as well as run the scheduled tasks. Make sure that if you are using the same authentication, that you specify the username and password (including the DOMAIN\ part) in the job's Web Page/NT Account Login tab.

We dont use NT auth. We use the built in Orion authentication. So I guess I wont need to add the domain in? The Emails seem to be coming through OK. Its like the scheduler is having problems logging into the web interface.

Do you know if we can log support tickets for the scheduler?

Craig, this is your problem.

There are 2 separate authentication requirements in order for Report Scheduler to work.

You only have the first piece working - the account used to run the scheduler on the server when no one is logged in.

The second piece is the account used to access the web page you are trying to send. Since there is no one logged onto your Orion server when the scheduled report is run, domain authentication will not work (unless you are willing to specify your own AD domain account userID & password - not recommended]).

You would be better off following Bleearg's advice and adding a local NT account as an Orion user, which can access the web page you are trying to send. This should resolve the issue you are seeing.

I took a while to work out. After many test, the final problem was due to having a + (plus) in the password.
