How to change IsServer property of node?

I don't know how, but some of servers are not detected by SolarWinds as servers - IsServer property is "False" for them.

It may be due to polling method or any other reason, but looks that I should fix it by hand (around 10 items, not a week-long job).

How can I change IsServer Property? Two obvious, Edit Node Properties and Custom Property, didn't help.

Is read-only and only SolarWinds software or update on database can modify the value?

Hello Sfp,

Unfortunately IsServer property cannot be changed, but you can use Node Category and set Server as Node Category. We introduce this functionality in NPM 12.0.

1. Edit that specific Node and change Category.

You can change Category for more nodes at once.

But let me ask one more about IsServer property: how it is filled? Is there any way to check reason why given node is recognized as server or not?

It is risky to use property without guarantee it is correct and without way to fix it or at least understanding how it works.

I have this same issue. When I changed the Node category from 'auto-detected (Server)' to 'Other', it still does not change the nodes.NodesData_Category or the nodes.IsServer fields in the database.

KMSigma, HerrDoktor, marcnetterfield - Do either of you guys have any ideas on how to update the "IsServer" field? We are having the same problem here and it's messing up a reprot we use to confirm things are being backup correctly.

The Data is stored in the SolarwindsOrion Database in the dbo.NodesData table. When you are on an older Version it is in dbo.nodes. It is just a True/False (Boolean) value. If you need to do this not very often just adjust it in SQL.

I don't know if the field is writeable by the SDK.
