NPM 10.1.3 - Server error: RunQuery failed, check fault information.

I seen alot of posts on here about this. I see it when I go to manage nodes. We tried a repair of NPM and a restart of the SQL servers on our DB server...all with no luck. I do have a ticket open but wanted to see if anyone had suggestions.

We were finally able to fix this issue last weekend. It required an unistall and reinstall on Microsoft .NET 3.5. We actually went to 3.51 SP1. Then a reboot of the SQL server.

I re-ran the configuration wizard on my Orion servers and we were back in business. Been fine all week.

We are experiencing the same issue. So far, SolarWinds tech support has been less than stellar with a bunch of canned responses that do not address the issue. Seeing other posts on the same issue, tends to tell me there is a problem with the software release.

Error message rec'd when clicking on a node in NPM:

The Orion website is currently unable to display this page. Orion polling and alerting services often continue running, though this page cannot be displayed. Please take the following steps to attempt to alleviate the issue:

Log in to the website again and navigate to another Orion page, allowing you to isolate the error to this page.
Ensure the Orion services are still running.
Check that your SQL Server is still running and accessible.
Please notify SolarWinds of this error. We will address and help you fix the issue.

Your specific error is:

RunQuery failed, check fault information.

NTA 3.7
Windows Server 2003Windows Server 2003 SP2
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 64bit Enterprise

SW tech support has not been helpful in troubleshooting this problem. No tech has specifically addressed the issue and attempted to discover the cause and they recommend removing and reinstalling NPM. This is just stupid! There's a problem with NPM and the database lookup field designations.

I ran the database maintenance util and compacted the database, but there was no change. I ran the configuration wizard and selected only the database to make repairs. This seems to have worked. I no longer get the error message. You might give this a try.

We are having the same issue when trying to "manage nodes". We started experiencing the issue on 10.1.2, so we upgraded to 10.1.3, same results. SW Support has not provide a solid lead yet. They keep pointing to a DB issue, but all other monitoring seems fine which would indicate proper DB communication. Very interested in knowing a solution.

fritch -I'm sorry that your support experience was not a good one. I'll forward this on to support as we do appreciate all feedback, good or not so good. Also thanks for posting the solution back to the thread.

Shawn - have you tried running config wiz as fritch suggests?

In my case one of our DBAs disabled CLR on the SQL server.. Once CLR was re-enabled on the database server this problem got resolved.

We are experiencing same issue. Please confirm which server(s) in Orion architecture required uninstall & reinstall of Microsoft .NET 3.5 ? NPM Main engine, NPM Add'l Pollers, NPM WebServer, SQL Server or ALL ?
