Traps alerting in Orion

Question

Is there a way to create an alert and event within Orion from a trap? I know how to create an alert in the Trap Viewer, but I want an event generated.

This also is an issue in reports. I can't seem to find a way to write a report based on traps and trap messages.

You're right.  I was confusing those two.  For Traps, you can write to the Windows Event Log, and then use the Windows Event Forwarder to send it to Syslog.  You can download the WEF from the Customer Portal under Orion Additional Components.

I see that option in the alert creation within NPM, but not one in the Trap View alert creation.

Writing an event to the NPM log is one of the Alert Actions.
