I would like to be able to link ports together to show that "this port" is physically connected to "this port" to have a true representation in the system of how things are connected together. This could also lead into some more advanced root cause analysis, but at this time, I'm more interested in it for all inclusive, "live" documentation purposes. We have digital (Visio) docs that show this type of connectivity and our other NMS Aprisma Spectrum, ties everything together like that.  We'd like to see this in Orion as well as we move toward making that our Primary NMS.  Along with this we would need enhanced mapping to be able to reflect this connectivity effectively.

While in map maker you may elect to drag your interfaces onto your map and represent your:

switch to server,
switch to switch, and
switch to router,

connections.

The interfaces typically default to diamonds, this is editable.  The interface icon will turn the correct color when a issue is found.  You may elect to connect  lines from the host to the interface.  This should provide the necessary port representations.
