Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Tip for Application Monitor users
Grabowski
I have found a nice little free executable that has proven to be very helpful in finding out which processes a given application or service is depending on, thus making it easier to establish what processes to monitor and alert on.
It's called Process Explorer and can be found on www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html. It doesn't require an installation and if you don't want to have any "irrelevant" software on the servers you are investigating you can place it on your workstation and "call" it from the server.
Enjoy
