SolarWinds Upgrade - My Orion Deployment

I just ran my first upgrade since upgrading to Windows Server 2016 and SQL 2016 update 1. After the upgrade, I was directed to the My Orion Deployment to update the Additional Pollers and Additional Web Server. The upgrade went smooth. It is a really nice feature. One note is that I had one WPM agent on a 2008 server before I completed the upgrade and it is no longer supported. We are just migrating the work to a different agent. Not a big deal, just thought I would share. I really just wanted to share that the upgrade process was great!

Curious about the WPM part... You were forced to update your WPM Player on one box?

That shouldn't be the case. WPM Players are still officially supported on 2008

I've been doing Solarwinds Administration since the early 2000s and the upgrade process has gotten a lot better. I also like the little page that shows what you need to upgrade to and on which OS. I WISH a lot of our other vendors had something that Solarwinds had it really is nice and saves you from wasted hours of upgrades to do a rollback or something like you have to do with other vendors.

my upgrade went smooth

• NCM 7.6 -> NCM 7.8

• SAM 6.4 -> SAM 6.7

• NPM 12.1 -> NPM 12.3

• VNQM 4.4 -> VNQM 4.5

• IPAM 4.3.2 -> IPAM 4.7

• WPM 2.2.1 ->WPM 2.2.2

Only problem we had was SNMPv3 with cisco devices, some reason SNMPv3 stop working on those cisco devices. Apparently some special characters on the password did not work.
