EOC Fails to add NPM server

Just installed SolarWinds-OrionNPM-v10.1.1-Eval and SolarWinds-Orion-EOC-v1.2 on separate VMs. Both appear to be operational but when I try to add NPM to EOC the following message is displayed: Failed test. Check the settings for errors, and then try again.

Is there a known issue or a place to find a better error message?

Firewall setting in the VM? You need port tcp/17777 open between Orion EOC and Orion NPM.

Also, have you updated Orion EOC 1.2 to service pack 2? It's a required download for Orion EOC to become completely NPM 10.1 compatible. This service pack should be in your customer support portal.

I should have also said wireshark packet captures appear to show tcp/17777 traffic flowing between VMs, and when I click test button passed test message is displayed.

If a service pack is needed I will have to contact one of my associates to download it for me.

Update:

To recap, originally I installed (1) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, and (2) SolarWinds-Orion-EOC-v1.2 on one computer running MS Windows Server 2003;
and I installed (3) SolarWinds-OrionNPM-v10.1.1-Eval, and (4) SolarWinds-Orion-NCM-v6-Eval on another computer running MS Windows Server 2003.

Athough it lacked version identification, EOC 1.2 SP2 was included with SolarWinds-Orion-EOC-v1.2 and I installed it.

Micosoft Firewall is present on both computers but is turned off.

I uninstalled EOC 1.2 then reinstalled it and SP2.

Now when I try to add NPM to EOC using username Admin and no password, the following message is displayed: Failed test. The Orion NPM server credential is not valid. Check the user name and password, and then try again.

Note: I can browse to NPM and logon using username Admin and no password.

For those who are interested ... EOC works as long as you do not have NPMs with hostnames containing underscore ("_") characters ... ASP .NET is finally following [at lest partially] DNS naming standards we were used to in past but began abandoning when using Microsoft Windows.
