Monitor linux volumes physical vs logical?

Question

We discovered our linux servers and ended up using tons of our volume licenses because it treated the directories below as individual volumes. How do I determine which physical volumes each of these correspond to via Orion (snmp) so that I only monitor the physical statistics? Or is this bad practice altogether?

Thanks. I guess I'll have to see what the cost differences are. Right now we only have up/down alerts for them so I might be told by higher ups to just do " / " and nothing else.

Best practices would suggest that you want to monitor the volumes as they appear in Orion.  The reason for this is that if certain volumes fill up you will run into system problems regardless of what the physical drive looks like.

If you want to monitor these volumes you may want to go to a higher or unlimited Orion license.  Alternatively, you can go through and be selective about which volumes you monitor.
