Most reliable server/HUB

Hello!

I have a general question about a method that I should adopt.

I am pretty new to the network analysis and during the past week I have been familiarizing myself with Orion NPM. By now, I know how to use/configure the Monitor and Report writer; how to export raw data in Excel and work with it (tables, charts).

In short, during my apprenticeship, my boss wants me to determine (and justify using report writer {statistics}) which HUB on the worldwide network is the most suitable to serve as an Internet entry point for mobile users who are accessing the company’s network on the go.

So, what statistics should I take into consideration and how should I proceed? Any general outlines and other pertinent information would be much appreciated.

The stats that Orion can provide may or may not answer the question your boss is looking for.

What you need to determine is what resources are remote users attached to when they connect to the network, and what sort of bandwidth they are using to do their jobs. Where are the workers most of the time? What kinds of connections do they have available? Sometimes, the best entry point into the network is the one closest to the servers, but sometimes it may be the one with the largest pipe. Or, on a worldwide network, multiple points of entry may be desirable.

As of now, I don't have those details since I'm pretty much left alone for the rest of the week. My boss gets back on Monday. I’ll ask.

From what I understood, there will be 1 main entry point, and 1-2 alternative ones in case that the main one is malfunctioning for some reason.

It is a worldwide network, but I think that they want to have the kind of architecture that I mentioned; not a multiple entry points one.

I know how to make all kinds of reports with Orion, but I'm having trouble associating the pertinent information with the answer to the question. Only traffic analysis and network latency on given HUBS seem important to me.
