I have noticed that some of my vms and hosts in the Virtualization Summary Page have a green icon vs the standard grey icon next to their name. What is the meaning behind the colors?
Please check if any vCenter or ESX servers don't have problem with polling. Can you post the screenshot to see your situation? Thanks.
The icons reflect the overall status of each VMware entity:
gray - "Unknown" status
green - "Up" status
yellow - "Warning" status
red - "Down" status
gray with exclamation mark - "Could not poll" status (unknown status caused by polling problem)
Perfect. What do I have to do to get the status from Unknown to Up?
is it possible to have this displayed on the page, so the average manager that looks at it does not have to call if they forget the meaning?
I resolved the issue partially, as the hosts did not like the initial credentials I gave it. I used the proper creds this time and now the status of each host says "polling" however the icon color has not changed. I will let it go over night and see what I get in the morning.
