Where is the MIB file stored in version 10? I looked in the \Program Files\Solarwinds\Common folder and do not see the MIBs.cfg file at all.
I found the MIBS.cfg file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\Common
Open a command prompt, then cd to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\ directory. Run this command:
dir /s mibs.cfg
It will descend in to the Solarwinds directory structure and search for that file name then display where it resides.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, margolis. i did that and the file is simply not there. Spock's brain is missing it would seem. One wonders how Orion is even functioning.
Can anyone at SW advise if I should download the MIB file and copy it into the proper directory, or is ther a concern of a deeper issue here?
Has anyone ever seen Orion install without the MIBS.cfg file being present?
I'm running an eval version of version 10 and it doesn't seem to have the MIBS.cfg file. The MIBs have to be there somewhere though, I'm able to browse the MIB tree in the UnDP tool on the server.
Yep, that's just what my Common folder looks like. Sure seems weird though. OK you funny guys, where did you hide the MIBs file?
Hi Freeman--
Try this:
Volume:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Solarwinds
Let me know if that does it.

Thar she blows!!!! So I guess SW needs to update the ReadMe file that comes with the downloaded MIBs.zip file. It still lists the old file location for Orion.
Actually, now that i look at it again, that file path is the same one listed in the ReadMe file for version 10.x of the Toolset. Does that mean that the locations for Orion and the Toolset are now one and the same? What about for NCM? Does the MIBs.cfg still need to be copied into yet another location to update that application?
Hi Freeman and Patriot--
Freeman--we are verifying the readme that accompanies Orion and will get back to you.
Patriot--I'll check with the PMs on the MIB for Toolset/NCM.
Stay tuned.
Hey Freeman--
Would you mind telling me which MIB/MIB Readme you are downloading and where you got it from (customer portal vs. somewhere else). Thx.
Patriot--The default locations for the MIB for NPM and Toolset 10.0 are the same. This is not true for NCM, so you will have to extract that MIB to a different location. All default locations are specified in the MIB Readme.
Hope that helps.
I am pretty sure the Readme came from a version 10 trial that I downloaded.
Marie,
The readme I have from the customer portal shows the path for the MIBs.cfg file for Orion as \Program Files\SolarWinds\Common. The build date on the readme is 6/04/2010.
Thanks,Kevin
Is it possible to change the default location of the mib file to a different drive on the server? For example, instead of having it installed on the C:\ drive, moving it to an application drive.
