Oracle monitoring

Hi All,

I am trying to use the canned oracle monior to monitor an oracle database but I am having some difficulty with the fields to fill in. I am sure a lot of the difficulty comes in that i do the solarwinds stuff and the DBA does the oracle stuff so I have no clue what to enter into these fields. I have asked about the "service name" portion of this and they say they do not have a service name on their oracle database, they have something called an SID. They said the port number is correct, but I am at a loss as to what to tell them i need for service name.

Have you installed the Oracle drivers on your Orion server?

I have, yes as i had seen the thread you posted here.

It should be the service name configured
in Oracle (it's not a Windows service).

I think this is where the miscommunication is coming from..they have no idea what I am asking for when I ask for service name. This oracle database sits on a linux box anyway...so i knew it wouldnt be a windows service.
