How does one pull a report to check modules on cisco 4500 chassis switches
If you have NCM, you could run a job on all your 4500's checking the modules.
Hi Dean
This 1 is working just fine for me but you need NCM
There are some CP that from my net (POP,owner,node_type)
how so? i tried update inventory in hopes that the output would display the linecards, but no luck
sja, i tried this but had no luck when trying to create the report. when i dug around my database and looked at NCM_Cisco_Cards, i find no card names of Linecard. Could it be something regarding my mibs?
Use the Execute Command Script of Devices and run commands such as show module or any of the other show commands. You can then get the output emailed to you and see if there are any issues with any of the linecards in your 4500's.
thank you superfly99 for taking the time to respond!
I saw the option of Execute Command Script of Devices, but was hoping there was something different. I was looking to try and create a report, instead of raw data via a script. One thing that was odd is that my Cisco Cards table inside of my DB does not have any information for my 4507s, I tried creating a UnDP for this information by creating a UnDP with this this OID - 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.2 hoping that this would return the desired results into my DB. This OID does return the information of linecards and their description, but still no luck on putting that information inside of my DB to then report off of. My assumption is that it would pull this information from the MIB browser when the device was added. I checked my MIB browser and it does have 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.2 inside of it. That is where I left off and had to get to other things. I know this is a lot more information, but I wanted to provide a thorough response as to my particular situation.
Did you run inventory?ohh my report is with ‘contains (slot %)’ not line%
How old is your NCM deployment?
Appreciate the response sja
Sorry about that snippit. Not sure what I was thinking there. All the CardNames in the DB are numbers. That must have been my first snippit before I started digging around more.
I did perform a run inventory successfully on all the 4507s I was looking to get information on. I unfortunately saw no change in my DB for a card for any 4500s. I have a total of 250 Cisco Card entrees and 10 Catalyst Card entrees. I tried running a report similar to yours, but obviously from digging around the DB, I have no entrees for the 4507s.
We currently have NCM version 7.8
