Solarwinds have been very busy on their Youtube channel recently, when I saw this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_FMsPRQAKk (go to 6mins in)
I wrote a report to show re-indexed NIC interfaces, and as I deal with VMs/storage, etc., not network devices, I refined it to just MachineType Windows.
These NICs sometimes get their index changed, and that's when they appear greyed out. You need to alert/report on them, remove them, and List Resources to find the new one.
Selecting on Interface, you want to look for Interface Index less than 0 (hint: it's -1).
I have more to remediate than I thought, so now I'm looking to automate. A vmxnet adapter with an interface index of -1 can be removed, and using List Resources (in SWIS) I want to add back in.
